Filtering Calendar Invitations into a Mailbox

The Bryn Mawr email and calendaring system, also known as the Communication Center, offers scheduling features available to the entire community, i.e. anyone with a Bryn Mawr email address will also have a Bryn Mawr calendar. When a community member invites you to a meeting, you will receive an e-mail notification asking for your reply. Filtering these invitations into a specific folder can help keep your inbox organized. Mailman

Bryn Mawr College uses a piece of software called Mailman for our list-serves. We have a mix of announcement and discussion lists, some of which are moderated, and others of which are unmoderated or "open". All configuration changes to Mailman lists can be made via the Web interface by the list owners themselves. You can subscribe to or manage mailing lists at http://mailman.brynmawr.edu. Quick Tips: Accessing Email through a Client (via IMAP)

Here are some quick tips for you to be able to view your email on the same server through other clients, such as Outlook 2007, Apple Mail, etc. Individuals setting up mail sync on a Mobile Device should use these instructions.  Individuals using a Blackberry or other unsupported mobile device may use the instructions below for "other clients".

Spamcheck

To prevent unwanted messages from reaching your email inbox, Bryn Mawr employs a service called SpamCheck (powered by Postini), which filters all incoming email for spam, phishing , and virus-infected messages. Legitimate messages are delivered to your inbox as usual, but unwanted and potentially harmful messages are diverted and quarantined in your SpamCheck Message Center. Logging in to SpamCheck allows you to review and retrieve quarantined messages. You will also receive a weekly quarantine summary email that lists recently quarantined messages and includes a convenient link to SpamCheck. Using Gmail Chat for Online Meetings

Using Shared Folders and Mailboxes

Through the Bryn Mawr communications center, you can share your mailbox or folders within your mailbox with other users. By filing or filtering specific e-mails into a shared folder, group members can stay on top of internal and external communications. This tool has many applications, such as simplifying processes for search committees, managing group projects, or managing a supervisor’s mailbox. Using the Address Book

The Bryn Mawr Communications Center allows users to add contacts into their address book with ease. These contacts can then be grouped together, so that typing the group name in an email or calendar contact box will automatically populate with the email addresses of all the members of that group.
