Installing Mathematica 8 for Students

Posted November 22nd, 2011 at 3:45 pm.

To install Mathematica on a personal computer for class, please refer to the following guidelines. For faculty and staff, or anyone who needs Mathematica on a College-owned computer, please call the Help Desk at for a separate installation.

  1. Visit http://www.brynmawr.edu/computing/software/MathematicaforStudents.htm and select "Click here to create a user portal account using your Bryn Mawr College email address."
  2. On the User Portal page under Don't have a Wolfram ID?, click Create Account. Fill out your information, and click Create Wolfram ID. You will then receive an email from Wolfram asking you to validate your email address. Note: If you don't receive this email within a few minutes, try checking your spam filter at https://spamcheck.brynmawr.edu.
  3. After you have received the email to validate your email address, click the link contained in the email.
  4. Once you have validated your email address, go back to the initial web page (http://www.brynmawr.edu/computing/software/MathematicaforStudents.htm) and again follow the Click here link. You will need to enter your contact information again, as well as what platform your computer is running (Mac or Windows). You will then be issued an activation key. This key will allow you to download Mathematica from the user portal.
