Eduroam – How to Connect

Posted July 25th, 2012 at 9:19 am.

Eduroam is a secure wireless network offered by research and educational communities around the world which provides visitors from other communities with free, secure wireless during their travels. Because Bryn Mawr College has joined the eduroam confederation, community members who are traveling can connect to any eduroam network worldwide using their Bryn Mawr College email address and password. Visitors to campus from other participating schools will also be able to access eduroam here with their credentials from their home institution.

For Bryn Mawr College Community Members:

If you are a Bryn Mawr College community member planning to use eduroam while you travel, we recommend establishing a connection to eduroam before you leave campus. The easiest way to connect to eduroam while on campus is to run the CloudPath installer available online at https://netreg.brynmawr.edu/cloudpath/.

When asked to choose a wireless network, select “eduroam” and enter your College email address and password when prompted. The installer will finish connecting for you! If you notice your computer connecting to both BrynMawrCollege and eduroam while on campus, don’t worry — the security and access levels are the same for both networks. Once you have established a connection to eduroam on Bryn Mawr’s campus, it will connect automatically wherever eduroam is available. If you did not set up the connection before you left campus, ask your host institution for their recommended connection method.

For Visitors to Campus:

If you are a visitor to Bryn Mawr College from a participating eduroam institution and have not connected to eduroam before, follow the same steps as above. Connect to the BrynMawrGuest wireless network to download CloudPath, available at https://netreg.brynmawr.edu/cloudpath/. When asked, choose to connect to the eduroam network, and use your credentials from your home institution. CloudPath will connect you to eduroam automatically. If you are having trouble connecting after running CloudPath, talk to your home institution to make sure there are no problems with your credentials such as an expired password.
